Philly Police Don’t Expect Many Issues At Naked Bike Race

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – This Sunday brings the city’s most unusual bike ride — the 5th annual Philly Naked Bike Ride, where hundreds of participants will wear little or nothing at all.

And what do Philly police have to say about this increasingly popular event?  Well, not much actually.

No buts about it, the annual race brings out some who wear just bathing suits or body paint, or some who wear simply their birthday suits.

In its first four years, there were no reports of police issuing citations for violating the city’s indecency law.

Police Department spokesman Lt. John Stanford says it’s really up to the discretion of officers at the scene:

“Typically we haven’t had any problems with this particular event. But officers will be out to make sure they enforce the law when necessary.”
